KATravels... subscribe via email!

Thanks to my friends at Yucatecan Living, I found a tool that enables you to subscribe to my blog via email.

What does it mean to subscribe? Simple-- whenever I post a new entry, you'll receive an email of that entry. No more having to check in to see if I've posted something new.

If you want to subscribe to KATravels, simply
  • enter your email address into the little white box in my sidebar (on the right, just below my profile);
  • click "subscribe".
The subscription company, Bloglet, will send you a confirmation email, which you should keep. That's it. Simple and free.

On a separate note,

we *did* get up early enough this morning, and we made it out to Michoacan. The monarchs were out in full force, filling the air, awe inspiring. More on this in my next posting. Meanwhile, get signed up and drop me a comment or two. :)

Your post on Michoacan brings up a subject dear to my heart... and tummy. Ice Cream! Our favorite local ice cream shop is La Michoacana, sadly closed for the dreary Pennsylvania winter. They have sumptuous ice cream at a modest price in an amazing variety of flavors, including corn with cinnamon and mango with chile. I swear they'll make ice cream out of anything, even mushrooms for the mushroom festival! (not recommended!)

How's the ice cream down there? I often wonder how much they have to change to suit their gringo clientele.

Can't wait to hear about the butterflies. I plant milkweeds in the garden each year just for the Monarchs and thrill to watch as the beautiful caterpillars devour the plants, thinking of their transformation and journey ahead. What a way to live! Though it sounds like winter in Mexico ain't such a bad way to go.

Wow, Becky, you're opening up my eyes (and tastebuds) all the way from Pennsylvania! We were so focused on butterflies yesterday, we didn't try any icecream... sad! I'll be curious to see if anyone else has had the pleasure.

On a tangeant related to fascinating combinations of flavors-- I spent a weekend up in New Hampshire/Maine last summer, and came across a tiny chocolate store called Cacao. Oh. My. God. Incredible combinations of habanero chile, lime, mango with dark chocolate. Blew us away.

But back to monarchs-- do you get many monarchs up in PA? What time of year? My friends and I are fantasizing about making a monarch-migration documentary, addressing both butterfly and human migration.

This subscription thing is a GREAT idea, I love reading your blog but sometimes if I forget a couple days then I'm overwhelmed when I return. This is a very helpful feature, thanks! :)

Good point, Molly, about getting overwhelmed when you've been away from an active blog for a while. I can definitely relate. Glad the subscription thing is useful to you. :)

On the subject of chocolate, if you are ever in Columbus, OH there is a FANTASTIC store in the market downtown called Pure Imagination Chocolates, name from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Great stuff with combinations like thyme and chile. And the fact that the owner is a big flirt is a plus too! Don't know if he's doing mailorder yet, but it was in his plan.

Never done a link before... hope it works!
